Jerry Folk takes a bold new direction with single ‘Intertwined’

World-renowned electronic music producer Jerry Folk shared his new single ‘Intertwined’ on 18 October through Folkestad Records. The single is a delicious teaser for his upcoming album, and features Jerry’s side project FENGSEL, as well as fellow electronic music producer Bearson, who also lends his profound vocals to the track. ‘Intertwined’ premiered on the SoundCloud page of lauded tastemaker This Song Is Sick.

The track lends itself to the theme of being lost and indecisive about which direction to take, as well as the realisation that everything is in fact interconnected. Jerry Folk has had a remarkable career so far, with official remixes for the likes of Bille Eilish and Charlie Puth. He’s also produced for Axwell Ingrosso and Lemaitre to name just a few, while he’s performed at Coachella and twice at the Mixmag Lab.

Based in Oslo, Norway Jerry Folk is somewhat of a shapeshifter when it comes to his music and artistic journey. He constantly pushes his soundscape, and allows himself to use his inspiration as an artistic compass. Speaking on the inspiration behind ‘Intertwined’ he revealed: “This is the first song of an upcoming album of mine. I’ve been interested in trying to make stadium 80’s type music with big reverbs, drum hits and phil collins type reverbs. Bearson and I made this track in LA earlier this year and it sparked a lot of creativity for the rest of the release.”

‘Intertwined’ showcases Jerry’s mastery and growth as a musician. It’s intrepid and triumphant, igniting a new chapter in his career. The track features larger than life reverbs, monumental drum work and synths soaked in 80s influences. Bearson’s vocals open a doorway to a Pandora’s box of emotion such as confusion, nostalgia and excitement. The single could easily be part of a soundtrack to an 80s themed sci-fi series or movie, as it has a palpable aura of drama and extravagance.
